Tip Toe Through the Tulips?
Tip toe through the tulips. Boy, I tell ya, that is how I feel at times. I have a vision of the way I think the world should be. This world would be one of peace, harmony, and love between all people. Maybe it is the hippy in me that still wants to believe in Nirvana on earth. No, not the rock band, but heaven on earth.
I have a tendency to post a lot of things online, whether in articles, videos, or postings on Facebook, that support that vision. So I have 
had to put up with being called a socialist. Hey, I am cool with that, if it means that I put people before things. Now that is where things can get dicey. Sometimes my so-called socialist ideas have a tendency to tick people off. So sometimes, I find myself hedging my words so as not to alienate people. I want people to open their hearts and minds and being confrontational does not lend to that end result.
Another area I usually get into trouble is when people start using religion to support their hate. I have studied religion on and off since I was young. At one point in my life, I was on the path to become a priest. I did a short stint as a Youth Minister. So I had some classes at Providence College, as well as other training. So when people pick and choose passages, I have other passages I can counter. Sometimes, that has a tendency to tick people off. Of course, then there are the ones who repost articles or postings that have no basis in fact or that twist the facts.
I have run into that a few times where someone posted something and I refuted it. I repost the facts and get blasted and told that I am wrong. Um, they are facts. Yet, it really seems to fly up people’s butts when you come back with facts. Then there is those who just repost things that they get in an email without even checking the validity. This happened just the other day when I got a forward of an email purporting to be from Bill Cosby. A two second trek to the billcosby.com site showed that not only did Bill not write it, but he was kind of upset with its content and did not support it. I don’t know, maybe it is just that we love the negative.
I am just trying to understand why people can have strong opinions, but if you have an opinion or counter theirs, it is like walking in a mind field. Hence, the reference to tip toeing. I really love my family and friends and really don’t want to have ill feelings between us. I am not trying to tick people off. Like I said, I have a vision of the world I want my grandchildren to grow up in. I have a vision of the world I want to leave to the next seven generations. It is a world that knows not war. It is a world where people don’t have to worry if they get sick because they will be taken care of without having to go bankrupt. Of course, it will be a world where we have taken great strides to clean up our water, clean up the atmosphere, and clean up our food chain, so that maybe we won’t be so sick.
So, I want to apologize to those who my writings or postings or videos offend. This is my position. It is one that comes from the heart. It is about making this world a better place. A place where it is more important to see the size of a person’s heart, than their wallet. A place where greed and abuse of the environment and racism and hate are no longer even thought of. Yeah, I want Nirvana. I want heaven on earth. I want a better world for my grandchildren and the next seven generations.

Edward Croft – Though, I was born a little late for the full blown hippie movement, I always was drawn to it. Not for the drugs and sex, but for the philosophy. I truly believe that we can come together as one people, one heart, and find solutions for this world. I find that my knowledge of Native American ways ties right in with that, as they were deeply spiritual and honored the land. I have always called myself a hippie at heart. I believe in peace, love and harmony. Oh and great music.
