High school principal holds valedictorian’s diploma over the word ‘hell’

BY: KELLY COZZONE,examiner.com – Kaitlyn Nootbar graduated from a high school in Prague Oklahoma with a 4.0 grade point average. However, after using the word “hell”, the principal is withholding her diploma.
High school principal, David Smith has stated that if Nootbar wants her diploma, she’s going to have to issue a public apology. Prague Oklahoma School District Superintendent, Rick Martin has come out in defense of Smith saying, he supported Smith’s decision.
Kaitlyn Nootbar – One Hell of a good kid!
In her valedictorian speech, Nootbar has originally used the word “heck”. The version of the speech that she submitted to school officials prior to the speech also had the word “heck” in it. This is the version that school officials approved.
Kaitlyn Nootbar and her father David appeared on the TODAY show on Wednesday. While being interviewed by Matt Lauer, Nootbar stated that changing to the word “hell” was a last minute decision.
When answering the age old question of what graduates want to be in the future in her speech, Kaitlyn said, “Who the hell knows”. As she defended her use of the word, Kaitlyn also admitted that she was being dared to say it by her peers. Read more…
