Yes, I watched the first debate ( Can I bang my head off of the desk just once more without permanent brain damage? )

Yes, I watched the first debate ( Can I bang my head off of the desk just once more without permanent brain damage? )By Sherry Pasquarello,WWH/CJE – I was all prepared for it. Had a pad of paper and my pen, my IPhone and my laptop fired up and the television on. I decided to watch Current TV because they had a live twitter feed scroll going as well as a top notch panel. All they needed was Maddow and I would have been in political junkie heaven.

So, I watched from the pre-debate shows that started at seven all the way till 11. I took notes and checked my facebook and twitter friends and contacts to get their take. Here goes…

Romney repeated the same lies throughout the debate that he’s been running on since the beginning of his candidacy. Really, he even repeated a few after the President called him on them with the facts. Obama, for his part let way too many opportunities to correct those lies just slide by him. He looked tired and disinterested. I was not happy at all. Yes, everyone on facebook and twitter had fact checked Romney’s lies in a minute or two but these were people that are going to vote for the president anyway. Romney even turned a liberal point back on Obama by saying that he wasn’t entitled to his own facts. I thought I might throw my phone across the room at my TV over that one. Romney even mentioned his sons and that no matter how many times they repeated the same thing it didn’t make it true. He kept lying about the Medicare savings. It just went on and on. The moderator lost control over the debate starting with Romney’s opening statement. I don’t understand that. He let Mitt bully him from the very beginning. That is why, I am sure that every pundit out there and quite a few of the viewers with say that Romney won this debate. I agree. If you take politics as a team sport, then Romney’s team won. Not with facts but with bravado.

Me? I heard Mitt suck up to big oil, coal and gas and make green energy sound like a waste of time and money. He made wind and solar sound like a pipe dream and instead of the president countering with the fact that many European countries and Japan are doing great things with solar and wind – beating us by far. He just let that slide too. Obama let Mitt yammer on about school vouchers. I almost did lose it on that one and facebook and twitter went nuts too.

The only subject that the president fought back on was Medicare. But, Mitt just kept on lying and even hinted at that “ DEATH PANEL” crap. So it was taxes taxes, middle class , baloney, stuff that could have easily been countered and wasn’t. Medicare, which was but not with any passion, education-vouchers, gas prices, which the president, ANY PRESIDENT, has no control over and businesses are somehow right up there with ST. Peter and the Archangels. Speaking of that sort of thing, as Mitt was getting rapturous about our rights from the “creator” he said that we are all children of the same god! I beg to differ on that one Mittens. So will millions if not billions of people in this country and around the world. Way to insult a ton of people guy!!! But that’s the way white, Christian privilege sees it.

I have said before, I think we need one or more viable parties in addition to the two we have now. But, I think it would be a sure win for Romney and his robber baron friends if we try to throw votes to the Green party or any other party that hasn’t a ghost of a chance this time round. For one thing, we may not have much of a country left if big business has its way with this bloodless coup it’s been attempting since FDR . If we truly want more of a choice then we need to start now but with an eye to the NEXT election. If we show the powers that be that we mean business. That we are serious in our demand for a party or parties that will speak for our concerns ,they may shape up.

Yes, I AM an Obama supporter, but I never expected him to walk on water. Somehow some of us thought that perhaps because he is black and from a single mother and that he had to work his way to where he is without a trust fund, that he would carry the standard for the millions of us that had to work twice as hard to get anywhere. REALLY? I don’t know about anyone else but I knew better. It’s politics. He didn’t pull a sword from a stone and have Merlin at his side. King Arthur fucked up a few times too if you know the story. I think he’s managed to do some very good thing in spite of NO cooperation from the opposition. His big flaw – believing that the Republicans could be reasoned with. But, this isn’t your father’s Republican party anymore. And any of the old republican guard has lost their courage and their heart along with it.

So, to sum it all up, I am unhappy with President Obama and disappointed. Mr. Romney showed just what a bully he is. I shudder to think of him as a boss let alone our president. The boss of a company, especially in our economy can get away with treating employees like that. We however are supposed to be the president’s boss. HE is accountable to US. That coupled with the fact that no matter how he sees himself or America, we still have to deal with the rest of the world. Can you imagine a president with Mitt’s people skills trying to negotiate with another country. Want to see Mitt try to broker a peace deal with THAT attitude? I don’t. We still have a war going on now as is!

Me? It’s after midnight and I am going to bed.

Peace my sweet hippies.

Obomber was asked about the role of government, and appeared to be stumped…
    On the role of government?
    Really?
    Here’s what the founders thought:
“We the people of the United States, in order to form a more perfect union, establish justice, insure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare, and secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.”
But the fucking Constitutional Law professor didn’t have a fucking clue?
    Really?
    That’s just fucking pathetic….
