Ethan Bonotti was born in 2010 but his parents believe him to be a child of the 1960s.
“We call him our little hippie child,” Ethan’s mom Susana Carmo said. “When he eats an orange, he’ll take them and plant them someplace.
“He does the same thing with apple seeds and as a result of him, we have birdhouses all around the house and he’s got this long curly hair that he really doesn’t want to get cut.”
But last week, the Hippie Child of Carmo and Jimi Bonotti, took it all a step further when he returned to his west Brantford home from school.
“It had been a really windy day and garbage cans and recycling bins had blown over and there was garbage every where,” Carmo said. “When he got home, he went back outside but came back in a few minutes later asking for a garbage bag and gloves.

Ethan explained to his mom that the ‘Earth was sick’ and that made him sad so he wanted to do something about it.
So armed with a couple of garbage bags and wearing a pair of gloves, Ethan set out to do his very own community clean up. He picked up two bags full of garbage and afterwards sorted through it all to separate the recyclables from the trash.
“What I’m really pleased about is that he went out to clean up the whole street,” Carmo said. “A lot of people, adults included, would have just done their own garbage or picked up trash on their own property.
“But not Ethan.”
Carmo watched Ethan do is community clean up from the front window of their home and also took a photo of him which she shared on social media. Soon people were posting congratulatory messages and the two Ward Councillors – Rick Weaver and Larry Kings – became aware of what happened….
