I went to the movies on Sunday afternoon. You may say, “So what” but it was the first time I had been in a movie theater in years. I think the last movie I watched in a theater was Lake Placid.
My daughter and I both wanted to see the remake of IT on a big screen and so she took me to an afternoon showing. OH MY, they had seats that reclined and put my feet up at the touch of a button! So we settle in to watch. I will tell you, there are some things in this movie that are not appropriate for kids. I’m not talking about the killer clown. There are human monsters in this film. It’s a great film. I really enjoyed it but just a heads up.
The real monster I’m speaking of in this column though was in the ladies room. My daughter had to stop in there after the film. I stood in the hallway and waited. When she came out I could tell something was wrong. As we left she kept looking over her shoulder and when we got outside she told me that while she was in waiting for an open stall a little girl (who shouldn’t have been at that film to begin with) was standing there with her mom. The mom wanted her to pick something up from the floor. It was a bag or something and the girl wasn’t as fast as her mom wanted. She threatened to slap her good in her face if she wasn’t faster! My daughter stayed there to see what would happen with her cell phone to call 911 if that woman had struck her kid.
There are monsters in the real world and often they are family; the very ones who should keep their kids safe.
