I’ve said it before and I’ve written it to various political fundraising letters and emails; nope, nada, nothing until I see some real progress, some advancement in the cause of the citizens of this country. I have the luxury of free time now that I am older and I can and do check on just which of the political organizations have actually done anything for the things that will really benefit the majority of us; not the ultra-wealthy and certainly not the fringe bases of either party and no, never ever again ANYTHING including passing on talking points from groups or political parties that talk a good game about causes I believe in and either make no real effort towards making any of them a reality or worse jettison those aims for their own advancement.
I’m a Democrat only because I must claim a party affiliation to vote in Pennsylvania primaries. I have lost faith in the Democratic Party and I despise what the Republican Party has become. The Democrats can snatch defeat from victory better than anyone I’ve seen and they fight over the tiniest of things. They also can’t seem to grasp that the Russians and any other entity that feels like screwing with them by using bots to smear Democratic candidates to the supporters of those candidate claiming to be some OTHER Democratic candidate’s supporters. Between those folks and the Democrats that are still fighting on social media over whose candidate pulled the worst dirty tricks, (Sanders or Clinton) they’ve screwed their own pooch as they say!
America is one of the few countries that have only two major Political parties and we are the worse for that:
So the conventions are in the books, and we’re two months away from the election. We’re two months away from Americans having an ultimate choice – vote for the Democrat or vote for the Republican. Actually…that’s not really much of a choice at all. In fact – other Democracies around the world would laugh at us if we claimed that a vote between one of two major parties here was ACTUALLY a legitimate choice. The truth is – a two-party system isn’t really that Democratic at all. And most of the other Democracies on the planet know that – that’s why they’ve reformed their elections to prevent a two-party duopoly from taking over their representative governments.
Did you know there are six political parties represented in the German Congress – the Bundestag – and even more parties represented in state parliaments around Germany – including the Pirate Party? Australia, too, has six parties represented in their parliament. In the Italian Parliament as well – there’s six major parties represented – and more than two dozen smaller parties that are represented in some way as well. Brazil has 15 parties represented in Congress. Heck – Israel’s Parliament has like 18 parties in it.
